About this event

The EDP Lisbon Marathon 2025 will take place on October 25 and 26, 2025, and is considered one of the most beautiful and exciting road races in Europe. Recognized with the World Athletics Elite Label, it attracts thousands of runners from Portugal and around the world who come to enjoy a unique race experience in Lisbon.

The main event is the Lisbon Marathon, a 42.195 km race starting in Carcavelos on October 25 at 08:00. The course follows the Atlantic coastline through Cascais and Oeiras, then runs along the Tagus River before finishing at the iconic Praça do Comércio in Lisbon’s historic center. Known for its flat and scenic profile, it is ideal both for elite athletes aiming for personal bests and for amateur runners who want to enjoy a spectacular route.

On October 26, attention turns to the Lisbon Half Marathon, starting at 09:20 AM on the Vasco da Gama Bridge, one of Lisbon’s most striking landmarks. The route offers stunning river views and also ends at Praça do Comércio. The 8K Mini Marathon takes place at the same time and also begins on the Vasco da Gama Bridge but finishes at Parque das Nações, a modern waterfront area, making it an accessible race for beginners, families, and walkers. The New Generation Race is designed for younger athletes and newcomers, promoting inclusion and inspiring the future of running.

Participants can expect excellent organization with free access to Lisbon’s metro, trains, and buses on race days by showing their bib. Shuttles are provided to the start lines, and there are aid stations every five kilometers, along with full medical support to ensure safety. All runners receive a race kit that includes a bib with an electronic chip, a technical T-shirt, and a runner bag, which must be collected at the Lisbon Sport Expo on October 23 and 24. The expo also features sports brands, nutrition, and running gear, making it part of the event experience.

With live music, cheering crowds, international athletes, and Lisbon’s stunning coastal and urban scenery, the EDP Lisbon Marathon 2025 is more than just a race. It is a festival of sport and culture, combining the thrill of competition with the beauty and hospitality of Portugal’s capital city.
