If the Algarve is mainly known for its beautiful beaches and dramatic cliffs, it is also true that its interior remains largely unexplored and genuine. That’s why we have created a tour to a deeper Algarve with century-old roots and ancient cultures to show that the region is not just the sun & sea cliché, there are other unknown riches as well.
We start this magnificent full-day tour towards Loulé, a city that breathes history, with a past linked to the Arab civilisation, something that is visible in the historical city center, the monuments and the traditional houses. Loulé has even more charm during the almond trees blooming season, from February to March, marking the end of winter. Visit the market with its quality products coming from local producers or fresh fish and other places of interest. Also get to know the reasons that led Loulé to be one of the most important commercial centres in the country during the Discoveries period.
Discover a whole new Algarve travelling off the beaten path for an original and unique experience…
Next we will visit a cork producer with a guided tour at the factory to learn the production process. Be surprised to learn that cork is used today for countless purposes, not just for bottle stoppers. Have you ever seen a hat or surfboard made of cork? Well these are just a few examples of what it can be done!
It is now time to have a delicious meal and get to know the rich cuisine in a typical restaurant of this region, before continuing the tour. In the afternoon we will visit one of the Algarve villages that was lost in time: Alte. Alte is considered the most picturesque village in the Algarve, located between Barrocal and Serra do Caldeirão, surrounded by fields and tiled houses. Visit the riverbanks and the town historic centre. A perfect way to end this tour in a deeper and less known Algarve before heading back home.
